چکیده
Consumption of foods enriched with herbs and herbal medicine products are highly popular. Their current popularity renders the assessment their safety an urgent necessity, they must figure prominently in nutritional surveys as possible factors cancer some other diseases, may contain toxic chemicals heavy metals addition to natural organic toxins, made present study aims investigate side effects fennel seeds Foeniculum vulgare, male rats, on weights , histological changes physiological parameters liver.
For this purpose, 60 Spargue-Dawley albino adult rats were daily treated oraly seed powder mixed rat diet three different doses (50, 100, 200)gm/kg bodyweight(bw) periods time (10, 20, 30) days. Adult divided into 12 groups each five following : (Group 1, 2, 3) normal control that fed chow pellet only for days subsequently, 4, 5, 6) experimental respectively received 200) gm/kg 10 days, 7, 8, 9) 20 10, 11, 12) 30 days.
The end experiment was followed by weighing animals, blood sample animal collected heart puncture then directly centrifuged serum kept at -80 oC biochemical analysis standards, animals dissected, liver excised fixed neutral buffered 10% formalin preparation.
Increased consumption treatment duration statistically caused:

Highly significant (p<0.01) decrement ( 9, comparison groups.
increment Glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase(GOT) pyruvate transaminase(GPT) levels (5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12), while Alkaline phosphatase(ALP) showed (p<0.05) compared sections sinusoidal dilatation mild degenerative, inflammatory cells infiltration, congestion vessels necrosis.
